We are committed to safely accommodating students with food allergies and medical dietary needs.
Parents/guardians should:
- Contact the Food Service Director to discuss dietary accommodations and submit the necessary medical form signed by a licensed healthcare provider.
- Update the school with any changes during the years here at Coldwater Exempted Village Schools
Students with Type 1 Diabetes
Our school is committed to supporting students with Type 1 diabetes and keeping them safe, healthy, and included in all school activities.
- Students with Type 1 diabetes have the right to attend school and participate fully in classes, activities, field trips, and extracurricular programs.
- The school will work with families and healthcare providers to create a written care plan (such as a 504 Plan or Individualized Healthcare Plan) that explains how the student’s diabetes will be managed at school.
- Students will be allowed to check blood sugar, take insulin or other medications, eat snacks, drink water, and use the restroom as needed.
- Trained school staff will be available to help recognize and respond to low or high blood sugar, including emergencies.
- Students may carry and use diabetes supplies when approved by a parent/guardian and healthcare provider.
- No student will be treated unfairly or excluded because of diabetes.
